Seeds of Encouragement

Song in the Night

April 5, 2020 Comments : 8

The days have felt strange these past few weeks. Even if our days of homeschooling have followed a similar flow to what they were prior to COVID-19, there is just a sense that the world as we know it has been altered and the threat still looming. But I would say of all the days, Sundays just don’t feel quite right anymore. Like so many others around the world, we miss gathering in worship with our church family. We miss singing hymns together and hearing God’s word read in person. We miss the sweet fellowship time afterwards with “kaffe” and “boller”. We just miss the normalcy of life; even the Sunday morning scramble trying to get four children out the door on time for church!

But. We can still rejoice and be glad in today and in the days to come! Even if these days look very different than they did a month ago. We can still find quiet joy in this day that the Lord has made! We can still lift up our voices as one, even if it’s just with our families in our homes. We can still sing praise in our hearts to our great God who is almighty and all powerful and always in control.

So, even though we were still wearing pjs and not “ church clothes”, the girls and I spent some time singing hymns together this morning. What a sweet sound it is to hear their little voices around me. As I sat there in the midst of them, it made me think of what the sound in our heavenly Father’s ears must be like when all His saints fill the earth with His praise. Can you even imagine?! As we face the week ahead, no matter the worries and fears that want to wash over us even in this very moment, I hope you can find a song in your heart today, too.️ And if everything just seems too heavy and too dark right now, ask the Lord to give you a song in the night. I know He will. Happy Sunday, my friends.

” The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime; And His song will be with me in the night, a prayer to the God of my life.” Psalm 42:8

It’s true. There is a definite peace and joy that comes with singing praises to our Father. Our hearts need that time to sing, and sometimes just to listen ♥️

Yes, exactly. Sometimes listening is all we can do when we just can’t get the words out and that’s often when we hear God’s voice the clearest and nearest 💕

Thank you, Beth, for this sweet reminder…”We can all find a song in our hearts” no matter the circumstances. Amen.

Yes, Lilly…even on the days when we might feel too weary to find the spoken words 🖤
